ALVA, Okla. -- The Northwestern Oklahoma State University visual arts program has launched its spring senior exhibition series, with several more student showcases this month.
The exhibitions are free and open to the public and will take place in Gallery Sophia, Jesse Dunn Building, room 218, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Alva campus. Please note that the gallery is only accessible via stairs.
Megan Valdez, a visual arts major from Alva, opened her exhibition April 6 with “Chromatics of the Deep.”
Bentley Cox, a visual arts major from Alva, will exhibit “Emotional Echoes,” April 13–17. The show explores the inner emotional lives of people through a combination of silhouettes and evocative scenes. Cox, who typically works in landscapes, tried something different for this exhibition.
"I wanted to challenge myself," Cox said. "I usually do landscapes, so I tried something new, portraiture, to not only push my skills but to grow as an artist."
Receptions for both Valdez and Cox will take place on April 13 at 6 p.m.
Katelyn Findley, a visual arts major from Stillwater, will present “Nature Magnified,” April 20–24, with a reception on Monday, April 20, at 7 p.m.
Four visual arts minors displayed their artwork in March, including Elayna Warrington of Alva, Olivia Saner of Dawson, Nebraska, and Gabriel Bussinger and Macy Eads, both of Woodward.
