Two Northwestern Seniors Awarded Guthrie Scottish Rite Scholarship for Fall 2025

ALVA, Okla. — Two Northwestern Oklahoma State University seniors were awarded the Fall 2025 Guthrie Scottish Rite Scholarship given by the Guthrie Scottish Rite Charitable and Educational Foundation.

Those awarded this semester are Brianda Diaz, a senior early childhood education major from Carson City, Nevada, and Mary Kate Foster, a health and sports science education major from Alva.

Each semester the scholarships are awarded to teacher candidates who are completing their professional semester.

Dr. Steve Maier, Northwestern dean of faculty, and Dr. Jen Oswald, chair of the Northwestern Division of Education and associate professor of education, presented the students with their scholarships.

The Guthrie Scottish Rite Charitable and Educational Foundation works primarily with children with language and/or reading disorders. Recipients are selected by the Northwestern Division of Education faculty members through an essay application process.
