ALVA, Okla. — Northwestern Oklahoma State University jazz ensemble members will present their free fall semester concert on Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. in Fellers Family Auditorium in Herod Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The program showcases a wide spectrum of jazz styles, under the direction of Xan Perkins, director of bands and instructor of instrumental music, offering something for listeners of all ages.

Audience members will hear classic jazz standards such as “Fly Me to the Moon” and Sonny Rollins’s “Doxy,” along with the funk-driven energy of “Chameleon” and music by Bob Mintzer and John Brown's band, The J.B.’s.

Adding even more variety to the evening, the concert will highlight music inspired by the New Orleans Second Line brass band tradition—bringing the unmistakable groove, spirit and celebration of New Orleans to the Fellers Family stage.

Northwestern students performing in the jazz ensemble include:

Alto sax: Kacie Setzer, Fairview senior majoring in instrumental music education.
