Northwestern’s Annual Bahama Breakaway Set for April 21

April 14, 2022

Bahama Breakaway

Northwestern Oklahoma State University students will be enjoying Bahama Breakaway on Alva’s downtown square Thursday, April 21, from 5-8:30 p.m. Each year Northwestern’s Student Government Association (SGA) sponsors this fun event for students before they dive into finals.

Northwestern faculty and staff members will cook free hamburgers and hotdogs for students. There also will be an inflatable obstacle course, a rock wall and an inflatable Wipe Out set up on the square for student participation along with free Frosty Joe’s Sno-Cones provided by SGA. The event will also feature yard games such as large Twister, giant Jenga and Spikeball. A photo booth will also be available for students to utilize.

Students will have a chance to win cash prizes in a volleyball tournament, a corn hole tournament and various games including limbo, a watermelon eating contest, a wheelbarrow race, sack race, a water balloon toss and a frozen t-shirt contest. Students also can participate in a silent auction to win an opportunity to pie an SGA officer in the face.

Students can sign up for the tournaments at the front desk of the J.R. Holder Wellness Center. The deadline to sign up for either tournament is at 5:15 p.m. on April 21.

This year the SGA has more than $350 to offer in prizes as well as gift card giveaways throughout the event. SGA will be handing out free Northwestern sunglasses and leis to all students and individuals who attend.
