Northwestern Future Educators' Day Feb. 4; Registration Ends Jan. 30

ALVA, Okla. – The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Division of Education invites all current Northwestern Oklahoma State University students as well as high school juniors, seniors and their sponsors to attend the Future Educators’ Day on Feb. 4 in the Student Center Ballroom from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event is free to those interested in learning more about majoring in education at Northwestern.

“We are excited for a day to celebrate future educators and the teaching profession,” said Dr. Jen Oswald, division chair and associate professor of education.

The keynote speaker is 2025 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year Melissa Evon.

Evon teaches family and consumer science at Elgin High School and is currently entering her 27th year of teaching. The core of her Teacher of the Year platform is to “see the light” by looking for the good in every day and “be the light for your kids.”

Registration starts at 9 a.m., with the opening session and keynote at 9:30 in the Student Center Ballroom.

Following the keynote, those attending will break out into sessions before and after lunch.  Breakout sessions include Inspired to Teach, Oklahoma Teacher Retirement, Financial Aid, Campus Tours, Student Teacher Panel, Northwestern Aspiring Educators, Resume Writing, AI in Education, among others.

Registered participants will receive a schedule of the day, and high school attendees, along with their sponsors/parents, will be provided lunch.
