ALVA, Okla. —The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Reichenberger Department of Fine Arts fall choir concert is Monday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Alva.
Admission is free, and Kane Bradley, Northwestern instructor of music and director of choral studies, welcomes members of the community to come experience the beauty of live choral music and support the talented students of Northwestern.
The free concert will feature the Northwestern Concert Choir, Northwestern University Chorale and the Northwestern University Singers performing a vibrant mix of classical, folk and contemporary choral works from around the world.
“A choir concert is more than just music,” Bradley said. “It’s a chance to experience the power of voices united in harmony. Attending supports local musicians, builds community and invites you to share in a tradition that has inspired people for centuries.”
The program includes Marta Keen's “Homeward Bound,” the American folk tune “Cindy,” Javier Busto's Spanish anthem “Esta Tierra,” and “Tres Cantos Nativos dos Indios Krao,” a Brazilian piece arranged by Marcos Leite.
Additional selections include Andrea Ramsey's “Richer for Her,” Dan Forrest's “Cantate Canticum Novum,” Handel's “Your Voices Tune,” and contemporary favorites “Route 66,’ “Big Yellow Taxi,” and “All Star.”
“This concert celebrates the wide-reaching power of choral music,” Bradley said. “From timeless classics to modern hits, our singers are excited to share a program that connects across cultures, generations and styles.”
