Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Camp Ranger event for incoming freshmen is set for July 31 through Aug. 2 on the Northwestern-Alva campus.

This event is organized and run by the Northwestern Scholar Ambassadors (NSA), a group of campus leaders who are selected to represent Northwestern in and out of the classroom.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the freshmen attending Camp Ranger in August,” said Ella Bowers, a senior psychology major from Woodward, NSA member and Camp Ranger director. “All the counselors are eager to meet the incoming freshmen and develop new friendships as we prepare for the fall semester.”

By attending, incoming freshmen will have the opportunity to meet their classmates, get to know senior staff members, become familiar with the Alva community and its leaders, learn campus traditions and officially join the Ranger family with the creation of their student ID.

“Camp Ranger is a great opportunity for kids to branch out and dip their toes into the water of what college really is,” said Mary Isbell, junior accounting major from Enid and NSA member.

The cost is $115 for the three days of activities, meals, housing and an exclusive T-shirt only received by students attending this event. Registration may be made via check by mailing to the Northwestern Business Office at 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717 or paid upon arrival during check-in by cash or check. Checks should be payable to NWOSU. Registration will be taken until July 30 at www.nwosu.edu/camp-ranger.

“We have exciting activities planned like touring Bradt’s Menagerie,” Bowers said. “We cannot wait to meet each individual who registers and show them what it means to be a part of the Ranger Family.”

Check-in is July 31 from noon to 5 p.m. at Cunningham Hall, where students will move into the residence halls they will be living in for the semester. At 5 p.m., the students will meet in the lobby of their respective dorms for a welcome and icebreakers before dinner and other fun activities. Check-out time is Aug. 2 at 1 p.m.
