12 Students to Represent Northwestern as Scholar Ambassadors for 2026-2027
May 27, 2026
ALVA, Okla. — Twelve Northwestern Oklahoma State University students have been selected as members of the Northwestern Scholar Ambassadors (NSA) for the 2026-2027 academic year.
NSA is a group of academic high achievers led by Ethan Sacket, student success coordinator and transfer student recruiter. Their stated goal is to look beyond themselves to discover opportunities to serve the campus and the Alva community.
“I am grateful these students have such an eagerness to invest their time and talent to positively impact others,” Sacket said. “I am excited for how each one of the 12 ambassadors will personally grow in their servant leadership journey while inviting others into what the NSA is all about.”
In addition to working one hour a week with the university and conducting one personal service project, scholar ambassadors lead campus tours, foster community partnerships and facilitate specific events like Camp Ranger, Freshman Orientation, Family Day and Ranger Preview.
Students selected to this year’s NSA include:

Jordan Banuelos, Thomas sophomore majoring in computer science

Allie Brewer, Bristow sophomore majoring in agriculture education

Barrett Brown, Liberty junior majoring in business administration

Pete Gwinn, Helena junior majoring in criminal justice

Anniston Henning, Harper, Kansas, senior majoring in agriculture

Jenna Johnson, Mustang sophomore majoring in biology

Patrick Means, McKinney, Texas, junior majoring in agriculture

Ava Miller, Tuttle junior majoring in biology

Boden Miller, Fairview sophomore majoring in business administration

Alaina Pierce, Alva senior majoring in chemistry and biology

Selection to the NSA is through a competitive process including applications, letters of recommendation and an interview.
The NSA students will attend a leadership retreat June 18-20 for a time of connecting and planning the year’s opportunities. They will then gear up for the academic year by hosting Camp Ranger for incoming freshmen July 30 to Aug. 1.
“We have a fruitful year ahead with this special group,” Sacket said. “I trust our campus and community members know they can always contact us if any needs arise, for the goal of this program is to serve.”
Incoming Northwestern freshmen can register for Camp Ranger online. The registration fee is $125 and covers food and lodging in the Northwestern dormitories. Students who attend Camp Ranger can also take the opportunity to move-in to their respective dorms early. Registration will be accepted until Tuesday, July 28.
