Northwestern Oklahoma State University will observe Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) with awareness and support activities from April 6-April 10, sponsored by the NWOSU Alva Psychology Club.
Throughout the week, the Alva campus will feature a chair display in the mall area with 10 chairs wrapped in teal ribbon representing survivors, along with statistics, words of encouragement, and resource information.
Additional awareness efforts will include supportive teal chalk messages across campus, teal ribbon displayed on trees, and a sticky-note encouragement board in the Student Center.
The campus community is also invited to participate in Blue-Out Day on Wednesday, April 8, by wearing any shade of blue to show visible support for survivors and help raise awareness about sexual assault prevention and resources. This event is intended to promote awareness, support survivors, and encourage campus-wide unity and education during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
This event is for NWOSU students, faculty, and staff, with Blue-Out Day also offering a visible way for the broader campus community to show support. Attendees should participate to help raise awareness during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, show support for survivors, learn about available resources, and promote a campus culture of care, safety, and unity.
