Northwestern Oklahoma State University Will Host Virtual Commencement Ceremony on May 9

April 20, 2020

Northwestern Oklahoma State University will conduct a virtual commencement ceremony on May 9 via Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram and the university website, nwosu.edu.

Because of the restrictions COVID-19 has placed on social gatherings, Northwestern will opt for a virtual ceremony to honor its graduates.

“We continue to prioritize the safety of our campus community during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president. “This has been a difficult but necessary decision to reach. Although we share our students’ disappointment in this change of plans, we are excited for them as they complete their education.”

Graduating students will have the ability to submit information and photos to participate in the virtual commencement ceremony and also have the option to walk in a commencement ceremony in December 2020.

To participate in our virtual commencement ceremony, please email a high-resolution photo of yourself in your graduation cap and gown and the degree you are receiving., i.e. Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication, Master of Arts in American Studiesy to publicrelations@nwosu.edu. These photos should, of course, remain tasteful. To ensure your photo is included in the virtual commencement ceremony, please email information by April 30th.
