Esports Camp Planned at Northwestern June 3-5

March 25, 2024

High school students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2024 have until April 15 to register for an Esports Camp June 3-5 on the Northwestern Alva and Enid campuses.

A three-day Esports camp for students entering grades 9-12 in fall 2024 will take place on the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Alva and Enid campuses June 3-5. The camp will run from approximately 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

April 15 is the deadline to register. The camp is sponsored by the Northwestern Computer Science program and Esports team with funding from the Buckles and Tucker Endowments.

Students may register for individual days or all three days at $25 per day, which includes lunch and a t-shirt.

Students also will have the option to stay overnight in university housing on the Alva campus June 3-4 for an additional $25. The $100 fee includes the camp activities for all three days, dorm stay and meals.

Payment in full for the camp is due by May 1. Payment is non-refundable unless the camp is canceled. Checks should be payable to NWOSU Esports Camp and sent to Dr. Tim Maharry, Chair, NWOSU Mathematics and Computer Science Department, 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717. Payments via debit/credit card can be made via phone by calling the NWOSU Business Office at (580) 327-8536. Please note the name of the camper and that the payment is for the Esports camp.

The first day will have the campers playing and learning more about the game “Overwatch 2.” Day two will be about “Rocket League” with day three being “Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.”

Some of the goals for the campers include providing a space for Esports players to work on individual skills under the guidance of Northwestern Esports team members, but also for them to work on team play factors such as communication, planning and having confidence in a teammate.

Attendees will also compete in a small-scale tournament against other camp attendees.

Additional information and a registration form are available at Questions about the camp may be directed to Maharry at (580) 327-8583 or or send emails to
