You're Invited to Family Day Oct. 29, 2011

Families of all Northwestern Oklahoma State University students are invited to the Alva campus Saturday, Oct. 29, for annual Family Day festivities, including the chance to win tuition waivers for the spring semester.

A reception for students, their family members and friends, faculty and staff will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Ranger Room of the Student Center. Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, will speak briefly and cheerleaders and mascot Rowdy Ranger will be on hand. Door prizes will be awarded.

Families can register for Family Day between noon and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Northwestern Ranger Room in the Student Center and/or Bookstore to receive free tickets to the football game, goody bags and the chance to win door prizes. An award will be given to the family having traveled the most miles to attend.

If families are not able to be there during those hours, students may register for them between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28th in the bookstore.

Families will be able to visit classrooms and tour other university facilities, as all campus buildings will be open beginning at 9 a.m.

A tailgate cookout will begin at 3:00 p.m. on the second tier of the south parking area of Ranger Field. The $3 meal will consist of hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, cookies and a drink. The Ranger football team then takes the field against Southwest Assemblies of God University at 4 p.m.

Families are invited to visit participating Alva merchants and register to win tuition waivers for the spring semester. No purchase is necessary and families can register at each of the stores. “Shopping for Tuition” will take place on Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. At the game, three names will be drawn for prizes of $500, $300 and $200 tuition waivers provided by the Northwestern Foundation, a prize will also be given for the family member of a student who has traveled the furthest. The winners will be announced at halftime, and registered families must be present to win.
