Northwestern to Play Host to Send-Off Party for Miss Northwestern Titleholders

Northwestern Oklahoma State University will play host to a send-off celebration for Miss Northwestern Jessica Davis and Miss Northwestern’s Teen Madeline Ryerson on Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom on the Alva campus.

The event is open to the public and will give community members a chance to offer well-wishes to the titleholders as they prepare to compete in the Miss Oklahoma and Miss Oklahoma’s Teen competitions taking place June 3-7 at the Rose State Performing Arts Center in Midwest City.

During the send-off party, Davis and Ryerson will showcase the wardrobes they will wear for the various phases of competition, perform their talents and speak about their community service initiatives.

Davis, a sophomore nursing major from Woodward, will perform a jazz dance to “La Malagueña.” Her community service initiative, “Unplugged: Disconnect to Reconnect,” encourages people to put down their phones and live with intention. As Miss Northwestern, Davis has donated $6,000 worth of athletic cleats to youth and completed more than 150 hours of community service. She is employed at the J.R. Holder Wellness Center and Daisy Village Boutique.

Lawsyn Howard of Woodward, named Miss Northwestern’s Star 2025, will accompany Davis to the Miss Oklahoma contest. She is the daughter of Josh and Destiny Howard.

Madeline Ryerson, Miss Northwestern's TeenRyerson, Miss Northwestern’s Teen, is an Alva native and will be a senior at Alva High School this fall. Her talent is a vocal performance of “Beyond My Wildest Dreams” from The Little Mermaid.” Her community service initiative, “Your Message Matters,” promotes positive self-talk and self-image. Ryerson is active in extracurricular activities, maintains a 4.0 GPA, and has earned top honors at state competitions in One Act and speech and debate.

Davis will compete as contestant No. 33 in the Omega group at Miss Oklahoma. Her interview is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, with the talent competition on Wednesday, followed by on-stage question, health and fitness and evening gown on Thursday. Finals will take place Saturday, June 7, at 7:30 p.m.

Ryerson is contestant No. 24 in the Omega group for Miss Oklahoma’s Teen. Her interview will take place Thursday, June 5. She will compete in all judged categories on Friday, with finals and crowning to be held Saturday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Northwestern graduate and former Miss Northwestern Emily Smith will make her third appearance in the Miss Oklahoma contest as Miss Northwest Passage.
