‘I Love Yarn Day’ Crochet Lesson Planned for October 12

September 27, 2019

A Beginners’ Crochet Lesson is being offered to those interested at Northwestern Oklahoma State University as well as anyone in the community who would like to attend in celebration of “I Love Yarn Day.”

The workshop, sponsored by the NWOSU Art Society, will be led by Dr. Mary Riegel, associate professor of mathematics, and will take place Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Science Amphitheatre on the Alva campus. Cost of the workshop is $5 for materials.

Riegel said that participants will receive a crochet hook and yarn to create their first project and learn the basics of crochet.

“Step-by-step instructions and demonstrations will guide each participant through the process of creating a washcloth they can take home with them,” Riegel said. “Armed with their new skill and a hook, participants will be ready to tackle future projects.”

Seating is limited, so those interested are asked to pre-register by Oct. 8 by emailing Riegel at mriegel@nwosu.edu.

The workshop is open to all ages and abilities, and no previous crochet experience is required.
