Sept. 2023 Blood Drive

Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Alva campus is partnering with the Our Blood Institute in Oklahoma to hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 13-14, in the Student Center Ranger Room.

The blood donor goal for the Northwestern President’s Leadership Class-sponsored event is 81 blood units for the drive. This event is open to the public.

“The percentage of college-aged individuals donating blood has dropped drastically in recent years,” Norah Scarbrough of Alva, freshman biology health science option major and PLC member, said. “Our campus has a great opportunity to make a real impact with our blood drive. As people age, they become less likely to be able to give blood due to new medications and developing different illnesses. This means we need young people to donate while they can. Each person who donates will be helping to save three people. For anyone with the ability to give, please come help our Ranger family save lives!”

All blood donors will receive a free limited edition glow-in-the-dark “Vein Drain” t-shirt, one free entry to the Oklahoma City Zoo, free health screenings and donor rewards points. Free pizza will be available, and all donors will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a $25 Northwestern bookstore gift card.

Donors will need to show a photo ID to give blood.

Those wishing to donate are encouraged to go online and make an appointment. To make an appointment for Wednesday, Sept. 13, visit
