Northwestern’s Dr. Eduardo Moreira to Give Piano Performance October 30
October 24, 2024
Dr. Eduardo Moreira, assistant professor of music at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, will be performing a solo piano recital in Herod Hall’s Fellers Family Auditorium in Alva on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. The program will feature George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in celebration of its 100th anniversary. The performance is free and open to the public.
Moreira is an experienced concert pianist, having performed in several important venues all over the world including Brazil, France, Germany, the United States and Uruguay. Northwest Oklahoma community members will have the opportunity to listen to a world-class concert pianist perform some of the most virtuosic works ever written for the piano.
"This recital is very special to me,” Moreira said. “It is the first time I am playing at least one piece by composers born in the three countries I've lived in: Brazil, France and the United States, in the same concert. It will be an honor for me to share such diversity of musical cultures with the Alva community."
At Northwestern, Moreira teaches piano, as well as accompanying the Northwestern choirs and all music students.
Moreira holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. He also has a Master of Music in Musical Performance from the University of Strasbourg in France and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from the University of Oregon.
