Miss Northwestern Celebrates 60 Years; 2027 Titleholders to be Crowned Oct. 25

The 2027 Miss Northwestern program cover celebrates 60 years of the competition and features Miss Northwestern 2026 Abbey Elam, Northwestern Star Hadleigh Dugger and Miss Northwestern’s Teen 2026 Lauren Thomason.

ALVA, Okla. — Northwestern Oklahoma State University will celebrate 60 years of the Miss Northwestern Competition when it crowns Miss Northwestern 2027 and Miss Northwestern’s Teen 2027 on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. in Fellers Family Auditorium in Herod Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Ferral (Lochner) McKay held the first Miss Northwestern title in 1966. The competition was revived in 2001 after an 18-year absence through the cooperative effort of the Northwestern Leadership Trust, Northwestern and community involvement.

The reigning Miss Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Abbey Elam, a sophomore media and communication major from Woodward, and Miss Northwestern’s Teen, Lauren Thomason of Burlington, will pass forward their crowns. The two new titleholders will represent the university at the Miss Oklahoma Competition in June 2027.

  • Time: 6 p.m.; doors open at 5:30 p.m.
  • Location: Fellers Family Auditorium in Herod Hall, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva
  • Tickets: Available at the door to the event
  • General admission: $10
  • Northwestern students with a current student ID: $5
  • Children 5 and older need a ticket; children 4 and younger are admitted free

Judging and Scholarships

Contestants for the Miss Northwestern and Northwestern’s Teen titles will be judged on talent/HERStory, evening gown, private interview, health and fitness, and on-stage question.

Each contestant in both the Miss and Teen categories will receive participation scholarship awards to Northwestern, and placement determines other prize earnings.
