'Joseph' musical starts Thursday at Northwestern; Non-perishable foods to be collected for campus food pantry

The cast of the Northwestern musical “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” rehearse in costumes Sunday afternoon in preparation for opening night Thursday at 7 in Herod Hall in Alva. The show also runs Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.

A number of hours have gone into preparing the upcoming musical “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat” at Northwestern Oklahoma State University scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium.

Tickets are available to purchase in advance or at the door for $15 general admission, $12 for Northwestern employees and $10 for students. To purchase tickets contact the director of the musical Kimberly Weast, professor of theatre arts and Department of Fine Arts chair, at (580) 327-8462 or finearts@nwosu.edu.

This musical’s lyrics are written by Tim Rice and the music is by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Karsten Longhurst, director of choral studies and instructor of music, is serving as the music director while Kiley Feely, second through fifth grade music teacher for Alva Public Schools, is serving as the children’s choir director. Erin Davis, university relations specialist, is serving as choreographer while Mickey Jordan, Iowa Park, Texas, graduate student, serves as the assistant choreographer and has designed the set and prop design. Alica Hall, Northwestern speech/theatre alumna; Maleah Schmitz, freshman speech/theatre major; and Chloe Nutley, Elk City junior; and Weast worked with costuming. Michelle Penner, Northwestern speech/theatre alumna, is the Stage Manager while Tiffany Willson, senior early childhood education major, is serving as the House Manager. Members of the theatre production class helped build the set and prepare lighting.

The cast and crew of Joseph will join with NWOSU Art Society members to accept non-perishable food items for the Campus Cabinet, Northwestern’s food pantry for students and employees, during all three shows.
