Entry deadline February 28 for 15th NWOSU Art Society Art Show

Feb. 28 is the deadline for entry forms into the 15th annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) Art Show in the J.W. Martin Library March 11-30. Artwork should be delivered to the library on March 7.

All Northwestern students, employees, retired employees and alumni from all campus locations are encouraged to enter.

Students will be eligible to win monetary prizes and ribbons for pieces that place first, second or third in a category and Best of Show for the overall best piece. Non-students will be eligible to win ribbons. All artwork will be eligible to be voted in as the People’s Choice Award winner, which provides a ribbon and $50.

Two items may be entered in each of the following categories:

  • Artisan Crafts (jewelry, pottery, etc.)
  • Cartoon/Comics
  • Digital Art
  • Fiber Arts (crochet, knitting, needlework, quilts, etc.)
  • Mixed Media/Collage
  • Paintings – Watercolor (any subject)
  • Paintings – Animals/Creatures
  • Paintings - Architecture
  • Paintings - Elements of Design
  • Paintings - The Figure/Portraiture
  • Paintings - Landscapes/Nature
  • Paintings - All other subject areas
  • Works on Paper – Animals/Creature
  • Works on Paper - Architecture
  • Works on Paper - Elements of Design
  • Works on Paper - The Figure/Portraiture
  • Works on Paper - Landscapes/Nature
  • Works on Paper - All other subject areas
  • Photography will include 10 sub-categories:
    • Animals/Creature
    • Black and White
    • Landscapes
    • Cityscapes
    • Light
    • Elements of Design
    • Macro
    • People
    • Nature
    • All other subject areas other than those listed

Students can win $75 for Best of Show, and prizes for first, second and third will be $15, $5 and $2, respectively, for each category.

Angelia Case, NAS sponsor, said the People’s Choice winner will be announced prior to the end of the on-campus show, but the Best of Show winners won’t be revealed until the Winner’s Show in downtown Alva during the First Friday Art Walk April 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Runnymede Hotel.
