Departmental Scholarship Application for Mass Communication

Scholarship Deadline: February 15th

Below are the available scholarships and their primary requirements. Please carefully read the descriptions and mark the ones for which you are applying. Submit any required supporting materials (if applicable) in the attachments section at the time you submit this form.

Student must successfully complete 24 credit hours the prior academic year and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (some scholarships may require higher CGPA) to be eligible.

Student must be enrolled full-time (in at least 12 hours) during the semester of receiving scholarship.

All students who meet the requirements are encouraged to apply. This includes students who will graduate in December.


Award Criteria for each scholarship:

Phil Noah Scholarship: 3.5 or higher CGPA; must have earned at least 61 credit hours by end of current semester and be active in campus media.

Wayne Lane Scholarship: 3.0 or higher CGPA; must have earned at least 61 credit hours by end of current semester and be active as staff member of campus media; requires submission of a one-page (typed-double spaced) statement with application; statement must demonstrate understanding of the role of journalism in a free and democratic society.

Todd Dayton Scholarship: 2.5 or higher CGPA; must have earned at least 61 credits by end of current semester and be active in campus media.

Larry Hammer Scholarship: 2.5 or higher CGPA; must have earned at least 61 credits by end of current semester and be active in the mass communication program.

Noel & Ruth Taylor and E.M Barker Scholarship: 2.5 or higher CGPA; at least 61 earned credits by end of current semester; mass communication major; awarded to mass communication students odd years only.

Dean Linder Broadcast Scholarship: 2.5 or higher CGPA; mass communication major; no credit hour requirement.

Case Family Scholarship: 2.5 or higher CGPA; continuing student who is active in campus organizations (preferably mass communications activities) and should exemplify leadership qualities; awarded to mass communication students odd years only.

Allison Adair Cunningham Zimmerman Memorial Scholarship: 2.5 or higher CGPA; continuing student; mass communication major.
