Health & Sports Science Department Scholarship Application

Scholarship Deadline: February 15th

Student must successfully complete 24 credit hours the prior academic year and maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (some scholarships may require higher CGPA) to be eligible.

Student must be enrolled in at least 12 hours during the semester of receiving scholarship.

Award Criteria for each scholarship:

Lavonn Meier-McKnight Memorial Scholarship - Applicant must be a continuing student, student-athlete, Education major, must have continuing scholarship application on file through the Financial Aid Office. Preference will be given to the applicant who exhibits the combination of the highest levels of hard work, discipline, character, and academic and athletic excellence.

C.L. Dick Highfill Scholarship - Preference will be given to applicants residing in Northwest Oklahoma. Second preference will be given to applicants residing in South Central Kansas. Preference will be given to applicants with a stated interest in teaching or coaching with the expression of a desire to make a difference with the young men and women whose lives they touch.

W.D. and Lucille B. Newby Scholarship - Awarded to a continuing student majoring in Health & Sports Science Education or in a wellness/nutrition field of study. The recipient must have a 3.00 CGPA. Oklahoma residents and those candidates who exhibit strong leadership skills will be given priority.

Lt. Mike Warehime Scholarship - Awarded to NWOSU student from nominations submitted by the Chairperson of the Health & Sports Science Education Department.
