Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be receiving the Pro Patria Award from the
Oklahoma Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) during a presentation on Friday,
Sept 25, at 10 a.m. in the Student Center Ranger Room on the Alva campus.
Paul Ray, State Chair of the Oklahoma ESGR Committee (Chief Master Sergeant, Retired), will be
presenting the award in recognition of Northwestern’s support of employees serving in the National Guard
and Reserve.
The Pro Patria Award is one of ESGR’s highest state-level honors for supportive employers.

arrangements for the presentation. University representatives associated with the recognition include Dr.
Eric J. Schmaltz, chair of the Department of Social Sciences; Dr. Roxie James, university dean; Dr. Steve
Maier, university vice-president; and Dr. Bo Hannaford, university president.
ESGR works to strengthen cooperation between Reserve Component service members and their civilian
