Northwestern Social Work Department’s 12th Annual Primp for Prom Set for March 12-13 in Woodward

Local high school students and their families shop at the Northwestern Department of Social Work’s Primp for Prom event last spring. This year’s event is scheduled for March 12-13 at Woodward High School.

WOODWARD, Okla. — More than 350 formal dresses in all sizes, styles and colors will await high school students from the northwest tristate area at the 12th annual “Primp for Prom” event sponsored by Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of Social Work and Woodward High School. Donations are still being accepted.

Primp for Prom is an annual spring event held in Woodward for area high school students to pick out a formal dress and accessories at no charge. The event will be held at the Woodward High School practice gym, located at 13th Street and Downs Avenue in Woodward, on Thursday, March 12, from 1 to 7 p.m., and Friday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to noon.

“Please encourage any high school student to join us and shop,” Dr. Kylene Rehder, professor of social work and chair of the social work department, said. “It’s a fun, welcoming event that demonstrates the significance of community, service and inclusion.”

This event is set up like a department store with volunteers ready to assist shoppers with finding the perfect dress and accessories. Fitting rooms will be available at this event for trying on dresses.

Although the event dates are set, the sponsors are still actively seeking formal dresses, shoes and jewelry donations.

Donations are still being accepted for the annual Primp for Prom event set for March 12-13 in Woodward, sponsored by the Northwestern Department of Social Work and Woodward High School.
