Lucas Ross Next Artist for Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series Oct. 22

Lucas Ross is an actor, comedian and beekeepers’ son from Minco, Oklahoma.

Lucas Ross and the Oklahoma Opry Band will take the stage at Fellers Family Auditorium in Herod Hall for the second Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series of the 2024-2025 season. Ross will be joined by Cindy Scarberry. The show is scheduled for Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. and tickets are $20.

Ross is an actor, comedian and beekeepers’ son from Minco, Oklahoma. He also is a seven-time Heartland Emmy-Winner as well as winner of a national Emmy for on-air performance for Oklahoma’s KFOR-TV. He has appeared in feature films, as well as national television on “The Tonight Show,” “Murder Made Me Famous,” National Geographic and Disney Channel.

Ross played banjo on screen in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” and currently holds the title of “Banjo Adviser to Kermit The Frog” providing banjo tracks for Disney’s “The Muppets Studios.” He wrote and performed the original song, “Kermit Day,” for Oris Watches and was recently invited to entertain at New York City’s Museum of the Moving Image for Jim Henson’s 87th birthday celebration.

Ross has worked on stage with Robert Picardo, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Béla Fleck as well as the Oklahoma Philharmonic and Oklahoma Community Orchestra under direction of legendary Dr. Irvin Wagner.

Ross is a Deering Banjo artist and has released five banjo albums: “Son of a Beekeeper,” “Banjo Farm,” “Banjos in Space,” “Aubrie and Lucas,” which he recorded with his wife, and “There Will Be Banjo: Lucas Ross Live at the Oklahoma Opry!”

When Ross is not on TV he can he found at the American Banjo Museum in Bricktown as its Community Outreach and Promotions Coordinator where he develops educational programs, leads the award-winning “Pick-a-Tune” class, and appears alongside Kermit The Frog in the “Banjo Roots” program.

The Oklahoma Opry has been providing the best in family-friendly entertainment since 1977. Every Saturday night at 7 p.m. the Oklahoma Opry band backs new hosts and local entertainers performing live music from a wide range of genres.

The Oklahoma Opry grew from a love of music and a love of family and has become an important part of Oklahoma’s musical culture and history. Starting as a backyard gathering of family and friends who loved to play and sing country music, the Opry was formed and grew under the guidance of Granville “Grant” Leftwich.

Starting at the Oklahoma City National Guard Armory as a family-oriented country show, the “Oklahoma Opry” was officially launched in 1977 in the renovated theater once called “Knob Hill” located in the Capitol Hill district of Oklahoma City. Later moving into the historic Stockyards district in 2004, the Rodeo Opry found its new name and new home in the Rodeo Theater where it thrived from 2004-2020.

Weekly Saturday night shows introduce talented new performers who share the stage with special guests, Oklahoma City favorites, and the professional Opry house band in a family-friendly, live music show proclaimed “Oklahoma’s Official Country Music Show.”
