FORT SCOTT, Kan. - The Northwestern Oklahoma State women's rodeo team won at Fort Scott Community College this past weekend scoring 275 points, 50 points more than its nearest competitor Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The men finished eighth scoring 125 points.
All 275 points came from Lauren Barnes' as she won the female All-Around.
It was a banner day for Barnes who won the goat tying by two seconds with an overall time of 14.1. She also finished third in the Breakaway Roping competition with an average of 5.6 seconds.
Northwestern was well represented in the goat tying event as Megan White finished fourth (16.2).
Kari Cable finished fourth in the barrel racing with a time of 28.44.
On the men's side, Jess Woodward finished second in the men's All-Around scoring 90 points on the day.
William Howell won the tie down roping by 1.2 seconds with a time of 18.1.
Cody Burkholder scored 141 in the Saddle Bronc riding competition and finished third.
Michael Pearce and Woodward finished sixth and eighth respectively in the tie down roping competition.
Kyle Irwin and Woodward finished second and third, respectively, in the Steer Wrestling competition. Irwin's time was 9.3 while Woodward finished in 9.7 seconds. Craig Cluck finished sixth.
Collin Domer and his partner finished fourth while Dustin Searcy and his partner finished seventh in Team Roping.
The rodeo team will return to action on April 12th in Weatherford at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
