Women's golf takes fourth spot, Dixon finishes fifth

Amanda DixonOklahoma City (9-9-11) – The Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s golf team opened the 2011-12 golf season with a fourth place finish at the Southwestern Christian Fall Invitational on Sept. 6-7. Amanda Dixon took home 5th place overall in the tournament.

The Lady Rangers opened their first day of play with a 352, which set them at 4th place after the first day. Northwestern finished two strokes better on day two with a 350 giving a total team score of 702 for the tournament.

Amanda Dixon led the way for Northwestern with a pair of rounds in the 70’s, shooting 78-76 —154. Stephanie Martin finished 19th overall with an 84-93—177. Brooke Carvell carded a 94-91—185, which put her in a three-way tie for 25th. Lindel Godfrey was right behind Carvell in 28th place with a 96-90 —186. Kayla Peters rounded out the scoring for Northwestern with a 121-104 —225 putting her in 38th place. Jacey Ford played as the individual for Northwestern. She finished with a 95-94—189, good for 30th place.

The Lady Rangers next tournament is set for Sept.12-13. They will compete in the Mid-America Christian University Fall Invitational at Earlywine Golf Club in Oklahoma City.
