SHAWNEE, Okla. (11-28-11) — Talytha Williams has been honored as the week four Sooner Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
The senior guard dropped a career high 26 points in the Lady Rangers conference opening win over Oklahoma Christian, 89-69, last Monday. Scoring wasn’t the only thing Williams did well in the victory as she pulled down three rebounds, recorded three steals, dished out two assists and blocked a shot.
The Oklahoma City native finished with a good shooting performance of 68.6-percent from the field in the victory, converting all four of her shots from the charity stripe.
Through the first six games of the season, Williams is tied as the Lady Rangers leading scorer with Autumn Klugh, as each is averaging 15.2 points a game.
Northwestern (4-2, 1-0) looks to make complete their third straight victory of the season on the road against Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday. They will return home on Saturday afternoon for a 3 p.m. tip-off versus St. Gregory’s.
