Welcome to the Nursing Division at Northwestern Oklahoma State University! Our nursing program is pleased that you are interested and hope you will pursue further information available on this web site and/or in person with our capable faculty. The faculty qualifications and names are available under faculty.
Our program is among the top in the state on the national RN licensing examination (NCLEX) for the past five years and we hold accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) and approval from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN). In 2014, we were ranked in the Top 20 National Nursing Programs by CollegeAtlas.org based on academic quality, accessibility, affordability, and program outcomes.
Our nursing conceptual framework is based on Jean Watson’s caring theory and several other important concepts. You can click on the curriculum tab to find the conceptual framework, philosophy, terminal objectives and curriculum plan. We are very committed to the concept of caring and even hold a Day of Caring each long semester to further facilitate that concept. We also provide Bio-Touch certification training at the advanced level for our students and faculty, as part of our holistic care conceptual thread.
To get information about admission to the traditional nursing program, please click on the Nursing school application tab. The Division of Nursing has a separate admission process, in addition to the university admission. That admission process occurs when a student is completing all of the pre-requisites for nursing. We require a CNA (certified nursing assistant) license for admission, as well.
To get information about the Online RN-to-BSN program, please click on the link Online RN-to-BSN program. This program is for ADN or Diploma RNs who wish to complete their BSN online without needing to attend classes on campus.
We hope you will contact us for further information on one of our campuses or offering sites--Enid, Woodward, Alva or at the University Center in Ponca City. Faculty are available at each campus/site and classes are sent via Interactive Television (ITV) to all sites. Clinical experiences are taught throughout the northwestern geographic region as well as in Oklahoma City.
We hope to hear from you soon.
