It is an exciting time to be a Registered Nurse! Never before have so many career opportunities been open to RNs prepared with a BSN. The Nursing Program at NWOSU prepares its graduates to tackle the role of the professional registered nurse in a variety of settings and lays the foundation for its graduates to pursue advanced nursing education and leadership roles.
The NWOSU Nursing program is among the top in the state with the national RN licensing examination (NCLEX) pass rates. We are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) and are approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN). In April 2014, we were proud to be ranked in the Top 20 National Nursing Programs by CollegeAtlas.org based on academic quality, accessibility, affordability, and program outcomes.
Our nursing conceptual framework is based on Jean Watson’s caring theory and several other important concepts. You can click on the curriculum tab to find the conceptual framework, philosophy, terminal objectives and curriculum plan.
To get information about admission to the traditional nursing program, please click on the Nursing school application tab. In addition to the University admission process, the Division of Nursing has a separate competitive admission process. Applications are accepted from sophomore students completing all of the pre-requisites for nursing. We require a CNA (certified nursing assistant) license for admission, as well. The junior level nursing courses start in the Summer semester after completing the sophomore year of college. For additional questions, please contact our office.
Our Online RN-to-BSN Program provides the opportunity for ADN or Diploma RNs who wish to complete their BSN degree. The program is designed for working RNs to complete the degree in 12 months once all of the general education and program prerequisites are satisfied. To get information about the Online RN-to-BSN program, please click on the link Online RN-to-BSN program or email Dr Shelly Wells at email@example.com
We hope you will contact us for further information on one of our campuses or offering sites--Alva, Enid, Woodward, or at the University Center in Ponca City. Faculty are available at each campus/site and classes are delivered via Interactive Television (ITV) to all sites.
