ALVA, Okla. – The second ranked Oklahoma City Stars shot 53 percent to give the Ranger women an 80-56 loss in Northwestern’s final game of a three-game homestand at Percefull Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 10.
Midway through the first half the score was in a 15-15 deadlock, before Oklahoma City went on a 7-0 run and closed the half out with a 35-27 lead.
The Stars quickly went ahead by 25 points as they started the final stanza off with a 27-10 run.
Holly Hardin led the scoring effort for the Stars with 16 points. As a team, OCU hit 30-of-57 from the field and added 16 points from 24 free throw attempts. The Stars beat the Rangers on the boards, 44-27.
The Lady Rangers shot 35 percent as D’Shanna Butler scored a game-high 23 points along with nine rebounds. Butler was a steal away from tying the school record in steals, ending with seven. Emily Gilbert added 14 points and Ashley Johnson and Autumn Klugh tipped in six points each.
Northwestern (7-6, 2-5) resumes action on Thursday, Jan. 15 in a 6 p.m. game against the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha.
