The on-campus deadline to donate new or slightly worn winter clothes, sweaters, jackets, coats, shoes and blankets to the local Warmth for Winter drive is Nov. 14.
Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Student Oklahoma Education Association (SOEA) and the Psychology Club are joining with the Alva College Hill Church of Christ for this community service project. Collection boxes are located on the first and second floors of the Joe J. Struckle Education Center. After Nov. 14, people with items to donate may take them directly to the church.
Northwestern students and others who may not be used to the Oklahoma weather and are in need of warm clothing, blankets or coats will be able to visit the church on Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to find items and sizes needed. The church also will be serving a free meal at this time. Volunteers will sort the clothing according to size, from infant to adult.
The church has been involved with the Warmth for Winter program in Alva for more than 20 years.
For more information about the campus drive, contact Dr. Karen Linstrum, assistant professor of psychology and Psychology Club sponsor, at (580) 327-8148 or by email at email@example.com.
