Employees from Northwestern Oklahoma State University will have the opportunity to participate in “Walktober,” a National Walking campaign, at the J.R. Holder Wellness Center beginning Thursday, Oct. 1.
Walktober will be held for the entire month of October. Northwestern’s version of Walktober has been designed as a competition between buildings at all three Northwestern campus locations in Alva, Enid and Woodward.
The winning building includes employees who have walked the most by the end of October. Upon completion of Walktober, the winning building will receive a trophy or a plaque as a reward for walking the most.
Employees must keep a walking log that may be found at www.nwosu.edu/wellness-center. Participants may exercise inside the Wellness Center or outside, but both must be logged.
A Wellness Walking Club will take place Monday through Thursday at 12:10-12:45 p.m. The Club will meet in the Wellness Center and walk on the track, or walk outside if the weather is nice.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, employees who participate in the Ranger Run will earn double minutes for that day.
Log sheets must be turned in by Monday, Nov. 2, to the staff member at the front desk of the Wellness Center.
For more information about Walktober, contact Shawna Copenhaver, J.R. Holder Wellness Center director, at (580) 327-8105 or email@example.com.
