Northwestern Foundation Release
The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Singers are proud to kick off their Nashville tour with a performance in Enid on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
From a very competitive pool, the University Singers have been selected to perform as one of only 10 ensembles at the National Association for Music Education National Conference featuring the very best music programs in the country. The ensemble includes 21 students consisting of music majors and non-music majors. The choir will perform a variety of music ranging from the renaissance period to contemporary.
Following the performance in Enid, the University Singers will travel to Nashville on Tuesday, Oct. 28. The performance will take place at the Ryman Ballroom of the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.
In 2014, the choir was featured in performance at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association annual conference. During the spring of 2013, the ensemble performed to thousands of audience members in Shanghai, Beijing and Hangzhou, China. This year, the University Singers have accepted invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall and St. John the Divine among other venues in New York City.
The University Singers maintain the highest level of performance, mental focus and artistic musicality. The ensemble has been praised by music educators across the state as being the ultimate embodiment of the choral art. By performing at a variety of venues, members have the opportunity to perform a wide assortment of music - always leaving the audience wanting more.
Northwestern-Enid and the Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association are sponsoring this event. Light refreshments will be served before the start of the performance.
