Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Office of University Relations has won statewide honors in the annual awards competition of the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association (OCPRA).
Steve Valencia, associate vice president for university relations, won first place in the category of logo design and graphic identity for his work in redesigning the institution’s main logo. His entry bested other winning designs from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and the University of Central Oklahoma.
Valarie Case, university relations specialist, took home a third place award in general photography for her wintery snapshot of the new Seventh Street entrance sign covered in snow and freezing fog. Case has won numerous photography awards from OCPRA and the Society of Professional Journalists.
“Much of the work of the University Relations staff is done behind the scenes, so it is great when their accomplishments are recognized in a statewide manner,” Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, said. “They contribute a great deal to the success of Northwestern.”
Other members of the University Relations staff include Erika Birk, university relations specialist; Jake Boedecker, webmaster; and Denise Bay, special events coordinator.
