    December 17, 2012 -- ‘Tis the season to do something nice for others and give to those in need. Giving back is what the members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) do year round, and because of the group’s service learning efforts in the 2011-2012 school year, they have been given the perSERVEring Ranger Award by the Office of Service Learning and Civic Engagement (SLICE).

  • Two Northwestern organizations win Creative Oklahoma 'Great Inspirations' awards

    October 28, 2011 - Creative Oklahoma recently announced the winners of the 2011 Great Inspirations award and two Northwestern Oklahoma State University organizations – Northwestern Art Society (NAS) and Creativity Project – were on that list. Recipients are recognized for their creative endeavors, solutions or activities. Honorees will be recognized during a luncheon at the Oklahoma Creativity Forum Tuesday in Norman.

  • Pencil drawings earn top awards at Art Show; winning entries to move to Runnymede Hotel

    Pencil drawings captured the Best of Show awards at the Eighth Annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) Art Show. The show continues in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus through Saturday. All winning entries will then be moved to a special show downtown at the Runnymede Hotel on May 2-3.

    More than 370 pieces of art currently are on display in the J.W. Martin Library on the campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva during the 8th Annual NWOSU Art Society (NAS) Art Show. The show is open through April 30 during regular library operating hours.

    Free entry registration for the eighth annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society Art Show is now being accepted through April 8. An online registration form is available at www.nwosu.edu/art-show-form, as well as a list for all categories and their descriptions. For those who prefer to have a printed version of the entry form, a link to a Word file of the entry form also is available.

    Northwestern Oklahoma State University students, current and retired employees, as well as alumni have about one month to prepare entries for the eighth annual NWOSU Art Society (NAS) Art Show. This year’s show is set for April 16-30 in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus.

  • Holiday store for children, photos with Santa, gift catalog among Art Society fundraisers

    A unique opportunity is scheduled for Alva and area youngsters on Dec. 11 at Northwestern Oklahoma State University – a Holiday Gift Store set up just for kids in the Student Center Ranger Room from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The NWOSU Art Society (NAS) is offering the gift store as a way for children to be able to purchase holiday gifts for loved ones, friends and pets without having to spend a lot of money.

  • Nearly 40 kids attend Alva Summer Art Camp at Northwestern

    Nearly 40 kids from Alva, Waynoka, Dacoma and Kiowa, Kan., have been on the Northwestern Oklahoma State University campus for the Alva Summer Art Camp. With instruction from camp leader Ken Kelsey, and session instructors Susan Hendricks, Susan Parent, Angelia Case and Valarie Case, the kids have been participating in various activities such as painting t-shirts, drawing, and making items from recyclable materials.

    After a whirlwind week of Homecoming activities at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, many awards were given to organizations and schools who participated in the 2009 Homecoming parade “A Century of Ranger Pride.”

  • NWOSU Art Society raising funds for annual art show

    The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) has kicked off its annual fall fundraiser to help the group raise prize money for the April art show. Purchasers may view items via an online store or browse through the pages of a print catalog. More than 200 gift and food items are available with a number of items being $10 or less. A handful of items may differ between the print catalog and online store.
  • Bike Decorating Contest for kids new for NWOSU Homecoming Parade

    The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society is teaming up with the Homecoming Committee to bring a free bicycle decorating contest to the children of the area for Saturday’s Homecoming parade, which begins at 10 a.m.

All university students, as well as current and retired employees, are encouraged to enter the show. A “Reuse, Recycle, Re-Art” category has been added this year to get people thinking about what is thrown away every day, and what types of new things can be made by thinking creatively.
