Two Northwestern Band Members Participate in Oklahoma Intercollegiate Honor Band

Northwestern Oklahoma State University students Amy Mikles and Amanda Metcalf were selected to perform with the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Honor Band, which rehearsed and performed Jan. 21 and 22 as part of the 2015 Oklahoma Music Educators Conference in Tulsa.

Metcalf, Enid freshman, is a music education major and plays the clarinet. Mikles, Turpin senior, plays the alto saxophone and will graduate from the pre-med program in May.

The Intercollegiate Honor Band consisted of members from 16 college band programs across the state. Members of the band are selected by director recommendation. This year’s conductor was Eugene Corporon, Director of Wind Studies and Regents Professor of Music at the University of North Texas in Denton. Corporon is an internationally renowned conductor of wind music and has recorded more than 600 works with his ensembles.
