Two-day blood drive challenging 200 people to donate

February 4, 2016

Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Alva campus is partnering with the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) to hold a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 17-18, in the Student Center Ranger Room.

“The Blood Donor Challenge” is seeking 200 donors over the two-day period. Donors will receive the Blood Donor Challenge T-shirt while supplies last. Those interested can join the movement and find inspirational stories from blood donations using #BloodDonorChallenge.

The event is sponsored by students in Northwestern’s Lead 1013 Habitudes course.

“Brooke Taylor approached the Service Learning Department about having her Habitudes class pair up with my class and sponsor this drive,” Theresa Lemke, service learning coordinator, said. “The students are working together to market the drive, use social media for a positive impact, recruit donors, and will work the entire event as volunteers from set up to tear down. Afterward they will each write a reflection on how this event and their efforts impacted so many lives.”

Save time by completing the screening questions online at The confirmation sheet must be printed the day of donation. Please have a photo ID available to give blood.
