
Rob Hibberts
Head Athletic Trainer
Rob is beginning his third year with Northwestern as the Head Athletic Trainer. He served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Bakersfield College in Bakersfield, Calif. from 2003-08. Before being transferred to Bakersfield, he was the Head Athletic Trainer for Cerro Coso Community College (1996-2003) in Ridgecrest, Calif.
Rob and his athletic training staff strive to provide quality athletic health services to the student-athletes. Members of the athletic training staff work in conjunction with team physicians to ensure the proper prevention, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes. He teaches a class in the Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries (HED 3103).
Rob has a master’s degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotions with an emphasis in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention, from the California University of Pennsylvania. He has also received his bachelor's of science degree in Physical Education from California State University Fresno, and his associate's of arts degree from Fresno City College.
Rob is currently a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, Mid-American Athletic Trainers Association, and the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers Association. He is also a licensed to practice in the state of Oklahoma. Rob holds a certification as a Performance Enhancement Specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is certified and instructor in CPR/AED with the American Red Cross.
Rob is married to his wife Ruby, who is an Oklahoma native. He enjoys fishing, golfing, and working in his yard during his time off. They have a son who resides in Oklahoma City, and are proud grandparents of three grandchildren.
Joanna Crow
Assistant Athletic Trainer
Joanna has been with Northwestern since 2008. She is a 2004 graduate from Oklahoma State University, where she earned a bachelors of science degree in Athletic Training. She worked with the Cowboys football, baseball and soccer programs. Joanna went on to earn her master’s of science degree from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 2007. She served as the graduate assistant for the Islanders from 2004-2007.
Joanna is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association, Mid-American Athletic Trainers Association (District 5) and the Oklahoma Athletic Trainer’s Association. She is certified by the American Red Cross as a Professional Rescuer. She also teaches a class in Nutrition (HED 1820).
Joanna is an Oklahoma native and enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, and traveling.
Brock Schnebel
Team Physician
Brock Schnebel represents Northwestern as the University’s team physician. Schnebel has served in this capacity for 23 years (since 1987).
Schnebel’s commitment to Northwestern spans 11 football coaches, four basketball coaches, five university Presidents, the addition of new sports and new venues, the first athletic trainer and the newest training room. Other than his family, the honor to continue his association with his alma mater as health care provider to the athletes of Northwestern is his greatest success, he said.
Originally from Alva, Schnebel earned his chemistry degree in 1977. During his time at Northwestern, Schnebel played defensive end and center for the 1973 and 1974 Ranger football teams. In 2009, Schnebel was inducted as part of the 18th class of the Northwestern Sports Hall of Fame.
A valedictorian at Northwestern, Schnebel went on to earn his medical doctorate from the University of Oklahoma in 1981. Currently, he is a self-employed physician and orthopedic surgeon at McBride Orthopedic Hospital Physicians.
To his credit, Dr. Schnebel has a number of professional awards in medicine, and he served as the 1996 Olympic team physician in Atlanta, 2000 head Olympic team physician in Sydney and as an orthopedic consultant and head team physician for the University of Oklahoma since 1996, to name a few of his roles in sports since college.
Schnebel and his wife, Kelli (Harrison), a 1978 Northwestern graduate, live in Oklahoma City and have four adult children, Jessica, Chase, Bailey and Addison.
