Tom Pantera is an instructor of mass communication. He joined the Northwestern faculty in August 2013. He also serves as adviser for Northwestern News and RangerPulse.com.
Pantera received a BA in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in May 1981. He completed an MA in journalism at the University of Missouri in May 2013. Before coming to Northwestern, he taught media writing at Minnesota State University Moorhead and the University of Missouri.
After earning his BA, Pantera was a reporter and editor for 30 years at weekly, biweekly and daily newspapers in Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota. During his career, he covered virtually every beat, from police and courts to state and local government to the arts.
Pantera and his fiancée, Karon Martin, live in Alva. He has two grown sons, Spencer, a pharmacist living in California, and Harrison, a biochemistry student at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
