Theatre program to present children's production

Members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University theatre program will present their annual children’s production to the public Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium in Alva.  Admission will be $1. They also will be performing four shows Nov. 20-21 for children in the community and surrounding areas.

The play is titled “Beanie and the Bamboozling Book Machine” written by Bob May, Christopher Tibbetts and Roy C. Booth. Kimberly Weast, MFA, professor of theatre arts, will be directing the play with Patrick Wilson, Aubrey, Texas, junior, serving as her assistant.

According to Samuel French, Inc., play publishers and author’s representatives, “Beanie Boren, a science wiz who is not keen on reading, has designed a book reading machine for the science fair… Unfortunately, the machine is neither user friendly nor bug free.  When Beanie turns it on, out pop the witches from ‘Snow White,’ ‘Hansel and Gretel’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ each set to wreak havoc!  Beanie must get them back into the books with help from the good guys in the same stories.  Afterward, he is eager to read about his new best friends - the old fashioned way.”

“We highly encourage parents to bring preschoolers, church groups, girl scouts, boy scouts and children of all ages,” Weast said.
