Actors from the theatre program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University read over the script this week in preparation for its world premiere in April under the direction of Burns.

Members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University theatre program have been reading over the script of a new production they will debut in April. “The Blue Haired Belles of the Burger Bar” will be performed for the first time anywhere on the Herod Hall stage April 8-10.

The play was written by Woody Leonard of Woodward and will be directed by Charlie Burns as his senior theatre performance. Burns, a Sayre senior, met Leonard while performing in a production he directed.

The world premiere will explore life in a small town in Oklahoma. It is a dramatic comedy that will shed light on the lives of the ladies of Charlene’s Crispy Chick Café.

Kimberly Weast, associate professor of theatre, said that having the privilege to debut a production is a rare opportunity for a university theatre department.
