Representatives from the Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) were on campus recently during Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s summer blood drive. Northwestern students and employees reached the goal of 65 usable units by providing 72 units of blood for OBI.
In order to reach that goal, 78 individuals signed up to donate. Of the 78 individuals who signed up, 66 were able to donate. Depending on the individual and certain criteria, some were able to provide a double donation.
“Without even one of those donors, we would not have been able to reach our goal,” Valerie Curry, OBI blood program consultant, said. “Each donation is so important to us.”
Northwestern will sponsor another blood drive in October. Donors are allowed to donate every 56 days.
