The Schools Arts Round Up will feature the talents of “The Sugar Free Allstars” in both area school and Woodward Arts Theatre performances. Due to their various musical influences and unusual instrumentation, this funky organ/drum duo is tricky to classify. The music is a unique blend of New Orleans funk, Memphis soul and Hammond organ-drenched gospel all wrapped up in a rock and roll package. Chris “Boom!” Wiser (Hammond B-3, lead vocals, saxophone) and Rob “Dr. Rock” Martin (drums, back-up vocals) make up the dynamic duo of Sugar Free Allstars. While calling Oklahoma City home SFA frequently tours the Central states as well as the Rocky Mountains. In addition, 2008 saw SFA touring Europe for the first time. The Sugar Free Allstars discography includes four studio albums. SFA’s most recent release and first kid*s album, Dos Ninos, has received favorable reviews by number of national children’s music reviewers. The album also made it into Fids and Family’s top 15 “Best Music of 2007 for Kids and Families” awards list. The first song on the disc, *Bathtub Boy*, was in the XM Kids radio channel top 13 charts for thirteen weeks, peaking at #1 for two of them. The band’s songs have also been featured on several community, college and internet stations across the United States and Australia.
