New Business:
David discussed having Staff Council participate in having a Homecoming window. Lisa would like to work on window and will find out when the deadline is set.
Computer Certificates for those who participated in the computer classes recently have been approved by Mr. Pecha. Lisa will contact Janet Valencia in the Print shop to have her print out a blank certificate. Once printed out, committee will fill names in and deliver to those who participated.
David will check on computer lab availability to be able to set a time suitable to provide a basic computer class to those employees who would like it. David will touch base with staff council members before our next meeting to let us know what he comes up with.
Debbie brought up the idea of modifying the summer hours. Instead of coming in at 7:30 a.m., employees would come in at 7:00 a.m. and get off at 5:30 p.m.. David suggested that he would send a mass email out to get a vote from staff and faculty on change of summer hours. David will also include the possibility of lengthing summer hours as well.
Leah would like to see about having staff mentors for new international students. Leah will talk with the International Student Advisor, Julie Barraza to see if there is already a program set in place already and to also get her input on the idea.
A date was set for August 24 at 9:00 a.m. to be our next Staff Council meeting. David will send email out when meeting room has been established.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
