The Speech courses in the Speech and Theatre Program offers more than 30 courses designed to improve understanding of the human communication process and to develop proficiency in many types of communication to the performing arts.
- In addition to the major program in speech and theatre, the program offers a minor in speech communication.
- The speech communication minor is a good supplement for any major. This minor degree places emphasis on the human communication process and enhancement of related fields including public speaking, nonverbal communication, interpersonal communication, human resources, public relations, politics, and the media.
Since 1969, the Speech program has hosted tournaments for area high school students. Currently, two tournaments are hosted annually including the NWOSU High School Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament, and the OSSAA Regional High School One Act Competition.
