Former Northwestern Oklahoma State University Ranger wide receiver Willie D. Spears, Jr., will return to Alva Thursday for a book signing for “The Ultimate Dilemma,” the second of three books depicting dilemmas faced by fictional character Keisha Martin.
He will be selling his book near the entrance to the Northwestern Bookstore in the Student Center from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Spears said that Keisha’s story picks up during the summer after graduating from college. In the synopsis, it states that Keisha’s already complex life is about to get worse. Her high-school sweetheart, Derek, is in jail, and her ex-boyfriend, Clarence, has gotten her best friend, Amber, pregnant. Confused and frustrated, Keisha decides to start her life over. On her quest to start fresh, Keisha takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride of emotions and lifestyle changes, as she considers a homosexual relationship, taking her own life, marrying Clarence, hurting Amber and becoming a Christian.
Spears, Jr., is a former teacher, coach, comedian, and radio personality. He
graduated from Northwestern in 2000 with a degree in mass communications and earned a Master of Education degree from Troy University in May.
Spears is in demand as a motivational speaker, and recently spent a week speaking with the students in Northwestern’s Upward Bound program. He will begin a new job on Sept. 1 as the Campus Ministry Director with Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the Kingsland, Ga., area.
He and his wife, Tanika, have two children, Tayelor and Kenneth.
