| Dr. Powders received a B.S. in Natural Science from NWOSU in 1963. He received the Master Degree in Entomology from Oklahoma State University in 1964. Dr. Powders was awarded the Ph.D. Degree in Zoology from the University of Tennessee in 1967. |
| Dr. Powders has taught at the University of Tennessee and spent 13 years as a Biology Professor at Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia, before returning to Northwestern in 1980. |
| His teaching involves several courses in the area of zoology, i.e., Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy, Parasitology, Wildlife Conservation, Limnology, Natural History of the Vertebrates, Ornithology and Entomology. |
| His research has involved entomology, parasitology, and herpetology. Currently he is working on stream biota in western Oklahoma, and also serves as Director of Museum of Natural History. |
| Dr. Powders outside interests range from antiques to knifes and guns and he enjoys various types of hunting and outdoors experiences. History, especially of the west and southwest is of great interest to him. |
