October 6, 2016 -- A free workshop to explore ways to engage learners in science and math will take place Saturday, Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon at Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Enid campus, room 202.
January 26, 2016--Over the winter break, Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Natural Sciences department installed a seismometer station at the University Farm south of Alva with the help of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to collect earthquake aftershock data.

June 19, 2012 – With a gift of $50,000 to the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation, a scholarship established by the late Dr. John Schuhmacher will give assistance to students in need at his alma mater and continue the Schuhmacher legacy in the Alva community.
Northwestern senior Amanda Moyer of Fargo has been interested in science for as long as she can remember, but a recent summer internship with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City allowed her to broaden her horizons and even make some discoveries of her own.
Nearly 35 students from the Alva and Freedom school districts attended the summer Math and Science Academy at Northwestern Oklahoma State University this summer.
