  • Ross earns scholarship, thanks Upward Bound program

    December 20, 2013-- After filling out the application, writing two essays and answering numerous questions, Northwestern Oklahoma State University freshman JonReid Ross of Burlington finally heard the news he had been waiting for – the Oklahoma Division of Student Assistance (ODSA) program had awarded him a scholarship to help defray costs at Northwestern for the fall 2013.

    November 27, 2012 -- Bullying. It’s a funny-sounding word, but there is nothing humorous about this behavior of unwanted, repeated, aggressive actions, whether it is verbal, social, physical or online. Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Upward Bound program will shed some light on this topic Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium as it welcomes Kirk and Laura Smalley of Perkins to the Alva campus for a free public lecture. The Smalleys will share their personal story of how bullying affected their son Ty.

  • Northwestern secures five-year renewal of Upward Bound grant

    June 6, 2012 -- Northwestern Oklahoma State University has received a five-year, $1.25 million renewal of its Upward Bound grant from the U.S. Department of Education. First received in 2007, the grant has allowed Northwestern to work with select area public schools to improve high school graduation rates and encourage students to pursue higher education options.
