Anyone associated with the Northwestern Oklahoma State University theatre program is welcome to return for Homecoming as “50 Years of Theatre” will be celebrated with a reunion on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Dr. Linda “Doc” Stewart served the speech and theatre program at the university for 35 years before her retirement and is returning as this year’s Homecoming Parade Marshal. Current director Kimberly Weast is in her 15th year of leading the program.
Weast is asking for anyone planning to attend to provide information to her on name (maiden and married), graduation year, degree earned, current mailing address, email address, phone number and number of people planning to attend the reunion. Information may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or call her at (580) 327-8462 or mailed to her at 709 Oklahoma Blvd., Alva, OK 73717.
The Northwestern Alumni Association will provide a free Homecoming t-shirt to those theatre alumni attending the reunion who contact Weast by Monday, Sept. 12, with their info and t-shirt size.
Those planning to attend also should RSVP by Tuesday, Sept. 20, for the reunion dinner reception following the football game so the organizers will know how many pizzas to order. The food will be delivered at 8 p.m. to the Student Center Ballroom. The cost for the reception dinner is $10 per adult and $5 for children 12 years and younger.
If unable to attend, please consider sending cards, memories, stories, photos, etc., to be shared with the group to Weast’s contact info mentioned above.
A list of events related to the theatre reunion includes:
9 a.m. – Alumni tent reception for Dr. Linda Stewart, parade marshal, north side of the downtown square.
9 a.m. – Registration for those attending the theatre reunion, Graceful Arts Gallery, downtown square. Homecoming buttons will be available for purchase.
10 a.m. – Homecoming Parade, downtown square.
2 to 3:30 p.m. – Tours of campus and Herod Hall Auditorium, starting at Herod Hall.
4 p.m. – Football game vs. East Central University at Ranger Field. Theatre alumni will be asked to stand and be recognized at the ballgame. The theatre group will try to sit together at the game, most likely near the alumni band.
After football game, approximately 8 p.m. – Reunion reception dinner in Student Center Ballroom on the Northwestern campus. Pizza and other items served for $10 per adult; $5 for those 12 years and younger. RSVP by Sept. 20 if planning to eat.
Anyone planning to attend from out of town may want to book motel rooms as soon as possible. A list of those motels providing alumni discounts for Homecoming can be found at www.nwosu.edu/homecoming, and be sure to mention the rooms are being booked for Homecoming. As Homecoming details are finalized, that information also can be found on this web page.
Additional theatre reunion information, as well as discussion among several theatre alumni are available on the theatre Facebook page at www.facebook/nwosutheatre.
