ALVA, Okla. (10-1-11) – Following a disappointing loss to Southern Nazarene on Thursday, the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Ranger soccer team was poised to get back on track against No. 17 Oklahoma City on Homecoming Saturday.
Unfortunately, the Stars thought differently, taking down the Rangers in a hard fought battle, 2-0.
Northwestern has now lost three straight, dropping their record to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference action. The Rangers return to the pitch on Tuesday as they face conference foe Science and Arts Oklahoma at 3 p.m. at the Alva Recreation Complex.
Recording the loss in goal for the Rangers against the Stars was freshman Courtney Herian. Herian picked up five saves in the contest.
Four separate Rangers got solid looks at the net with Vivian Vega, Taylor Marsh, Brianne Brown and Ellen Trotter all take a shot on goal. Brown led with the way with three total shots, while Vega and Trotter each had two.
Oklahoma City’s Meghan McMahon was the star offensively for the visitors, scoring both goals. The first Stars’ goal came during the 20th minute and the second was in the 79th minute.
